How it all started (1985)
My name is Simon Wernli and I have been DJing since 1985. It all started on a small scale as a teenager in a local youth club – simply out of pure joy for music and mixing records. Out of that love for trance, hard trance, and techno, my DJ name DJ S.I.ONE (also DJ S.I.ØNE) and my project SPACEPLANET grew.
1996 & the Zurich Street Parade
In 1996, my track "SPACEPLANET 303" was released and featured in the official Zurich Street Parade video. On many compilations the name appeared as two words, Space Planet, though officially I always write SPACEPLANET as one word. The Street Parade has been part of my life ever since – including our "WE ARE UNITED" Love Mobile.
Independent labels & 5 million records
To release my music freely and independently, I founded three labels of my own over the years: SPACEPLANET Records, Rimini Deep Records, and Bunica Records. Alongside them, I had the opportunity to work with well-known music publishers, distributors, and labels. Added together, my tracks appeared on compilations and releases selling around 5 million copies worldwide.
Today: Studio, vinyl & Tuesday Trance
Today I have the time to focus fully on music. In 2026 – thirty years after "SPACEPLANET 303" – we released the double CD "WE PARADE 2K26" as well as our limited 12" vinyl "The Vision / The Sight" (SPR004VINYL) together with Mario Più on SPACEPLANET Records. Every Tuesday evening, I also go live on YouTube with "Tuesday Trance", playing for friends, longtime companions, and trance lovers around the world.
What matters to me
Two honors mean a great deal to me along the way: being inducted into the Nature One Hall of Fame (2010) after playing at Nature One, and being named an Honorary Member of the Association R.A.V.E. (Swissrave Vinyl Archive) in 2026. To me, music has never been about hype – it is honest craft, vinyl, and community, and that is what I continue to live.
